Outdoor Photographer of the Year 2017

Outdoor Photographer of the Year 2017

Am delighted to say that one of my images, Small Worlds (above), has made the book at Outdoor Photograher of the Year 2017.  The competition is truly global and pretty tough: 18,000 entries from over 60 countries.  I’ve had a number of shots shortlisted at this competition over the last few years (18 or so at the last count, not that I’m counting, oh alright then I am, 4 of them this year), but the book is the shortlist of the shortlist, so am very chuffed indeed to have been featured. The shot came from a log I’ve walked past literally hundreds of time in our local park.  On close inspection I noticed all sorts of unusual characters and worlds, each no more than an inch or so high.  My first foray into Macro photography… there will be more. The actual winners of the competition are announced at The Photography Show in March from the nine category winners, and the book itself goes on sale on March 20th.  It’s full of some pretty inspirational shots – always worth a look.
